Petaluma natives, Helen Moreda and her husband, Dennis, first became local merchants twenty years ago when they bought a sporting goods store on Western Ave. In buying the store, they were able to be in business for themselves, a dream of so many commuters and nine-to-fivers. This original store was more old-world in nature, with stock consisting of ammunition, tackle, bait and athletic equipment. The Moreda's (Helen & Dennis) bring a good bit of the Petaluma spirit into Moreda's. While the store has changed with the times, the original notion of a small-town supplier of leisurely goods remains constant. Moreda's carries a unique blend of casual clothing, gift items, games, athletic equipment, Petaluma souveniers and fishing supplies. As Moreda's celebrates its 20th anniversary, it is easy to see why a small town store is such a large part of a town's identity.
