History The McNear Complex is actually two separate buildings. The first was built in 1886 and housed the National Guard Armory unit, which embarked from this building to fight the Spanish American War. The newer building, on the left, was built in 1911 on the site of an old butcher shop, which had moved into the McNear Building when it was completed.
