History Steamboating has a 98 year history in Petaluma, beginning in 1852 with the establishment of the first hunting camp in the area. Steamboats carried a variety of imports from San Francisco and the East Coast, and exports from Petaluma's mills and factories, and from surrounding farms. The Petaluma Queen is a tourist excursion boat reminiscent of the steamboating era. The Queen, a rear paddle wheeler, regularly plies the waters of the Petaluma River. |
