 Stories McNear's 1902 grain mill was built on the site of the Union Hotel, one of Petaluma's five original hostelries. The hotel played up its proximity to the Haystack Railroad depot by advertising that ladies wouldn't have to walk through dusty or muddy streets to get to their lodgings. Instead of being torn down, the McNears had the hotel moved a block and a half north. |
