Tell Me About In 1858, the Oddfellows Club established the first private library in the region .The public was invited to use it in 1867. At this time, the librarian organized the collection according to her own personal "merit" system. Books she judged respectable were placed within reach, while books deemed otherwise were relegated to the highest shelves. The books were donated to the newly formed Petaluma Public Library in 1878.
